You may or may not have seen this on the news, but here a while back a prominent western state passed a law saying that anyone who is arrested by the police and is suspected of being in the United States illegally must produce documentation to show whether they are, indeed, here legally or not.
Greek Tragedy Playing Here

If you’ve been watching the news lately, you’ve seen that there’s a lot of uproar in the country of Greece. The problem is that the country is having severe financial problems.
Have they Found Noah's Ark?
Submitted by Sam White on Mon, 05/10/2010 - 13:49.
Last week, there was a story on the news that archeologists from Turkey and China claim to have found Noah’s Ark. They found it on Mount Ararat, which squares with the Biblical narrative. Carbon dating—which has its own skeptics—of what they found indicates that it’s from about 4800 BC, which would put it in the right time frame for Noah. It was also WAY up on the mountain, which is another point in its favor.
Comic Book Hero

In popular media, the people who own and frequent comic book shops are often depicted as fat, nerdy and uncoordinated. This is, of course, a generalization. It may well be a correct generalization, but it is a generalization, nonetheless.
As rebuttal to this picture, I would like to call the reader’s attention to a story that recently came to us from “across the pond”. No, not Lake Meredith, the big pond, the Atlantic. Or, possibly, the Pacific. No, no, I’m pretty sure it’s the Atlantic.
Thank you, readers!!!

Thank you readers for making April 2010 my best-selling month ever! In April (as of noon on the last day of the month) I have sold 60 books on the Amazon Kindle platform. Leading the way was “First Time: The Legend of Garison Fitch–Book 1″ with 20 copies sold.
Where is Garison Fitch?
Submitted by Sam White on Thu, 04/29/2010 - 15:40.
Yes, I am working on a new Garison Fitch novel. When will it be out? I have no idea.
The original Garison Fitch novel (“First Time”) was written in the summer of 1989. Then it got re-written a few times before being self-published in 2001 (see other blogs on this web site for more details). I’m not trying to claim that writing this new novel will take me 12 years so much as I’m trying to cover my rear in case it does. :-)
This Thursday, April 22, I will probably celebrate “Earth Day” in my usual fashion, which is to forget that it’s happening until about a week later. On the years when I do remember Earth Day, I like to celebrate by driving my SUV to some fast food restaurant that uses Styrofoam cups and order a large soft drink, leaving the engine running and the air conditioning going all while keeping the windows down.
Reader Input

I got an email from a guy in Saudi Arabia who has been reading my books on Kindle and wanted to know when the next one would be out. It was extremely gratifying because as I write (and re-write) about these characters, sometimes taking years to complete a book, they become very real to me. So having someone write and say they want to know more is kind of like having someone praise one of your children.
Read Garison Fitch on iPad!

Got an iPad? Then you can read all my novels (published so far, anyway). All Amazon Kindle books are available on the iPad.
Look for "First Time: The Legend of Garison Fitch - Book 1" and start reading there! Or, look under "Samuel Ben White" as the author.
Tuttle's Influence on Everything Else
Submitted by Sam White on Tue, 04/06/2010 - 13:14.
Besides writing the Garison Fitch books (which experienced their best sales month ever this past March–thanks readers!!), I also draw the comic strip “Tuttle’s” and the on-line comic book “Burt & the I.L.S.”. In addition, I write a column for the High Plains Observer, an on-line newspaper that covers the Texas panhandle, as well as this blog and six columns a year for the Moore County News. Oh, and let’s not forget that I also write a sermon and a Sunday school lesson a week.
I bring this up to ask your pardon if they ever start to run together for you. They sure do for me!
