For several months now, almost three, it has been widely reported and even believed that the Pittsburgh Steelers won the last Super Bowl against the Seattle "Seahawks".

Almost 80,000 people watched the game in person and another few million people saw it on television. Since then, they have discussed it over lunches, water-coolers and in blogs.

The National Geographic stunned the sports world this week by releasing a document discovered in early February but only now released (because they went to lunch, it got buried under other stuff, the cleaning lady just discovered it, you know the story) which indicates that Pittsburgh may have not only lost the Super Bowl but that they might have been playing the Cincinnati Bengals at the time.

Critics have been quick to point out the number of the witnesses, the video tape evidence, and the fact that the Steelers and the Bengals are in the same division and could not meet in the Super Bowl (not to mention that it's against the law for Cincy to win a Super Bowl). The National Geographic Society has stood behind their story, frequently pointing out that their document has been authenticated by independent unnamed auditors and was found NEAR Pittsburgh, which of course means it's authentic.

Super Bowl MVP Carson Palmer has refused comment, saying only, "What?" from the hospital bed where he's recovering from a devestating injury suffered early in the playoffs.
