Thank you readers for making April 2010 my best-selling month ever! In April (as of noon on the last day of the month) I have sold 60 books on the Amazon Kindle platform. Leading the way was “First Time: The Legend of Garison Fitch–Book 1″ with 20 copies sold.

Yes, I am working on a new Garison Fitch novel. When will it be out? I have no idea.

The original Garison Fitch novel (“First Time”) was written in the summer of 1989. Then it got re-written a few times before being self-published in 2001 (see other blogs on this web site for more details). I’m not trying to claim that writing this new novel will take me 12 years so much as I’m trying to cover my rear in case it does. :-)

This Thursday, April 22, I will probably celebrate “Earth Day” in my usual fashion, which is to forget that it’s happening until about a week later. On the years when I do remember Earth Day, I like to celebrate by driving my SUV to some fast food restaurant that uses Styrofoam cups and order a large soft drink, leaving the engine running and the air conditioning going all while keeping the windows down.

I got an email from a guy in Saudi Arabia who has been reading my books on Kindle and wanted to know when the next one would be out. It was extremely gratifying because as I write (and re-write) about these characters, sometimes taking years to complete a book, they become very real to me. So having someone write and say they want to know more is kind of like having someone praise one of your children.

4.11.10 – Tuesday morning, I sat for about an hour and a half next to a lady with a very interesting tattoo on her left arm. It wasn’t a tattoo of a flower or of a symbol for some organization. It wasn’t a Japanese or Chinese character. Her tattoo was just an unassuming string of numbers. Easily ignored.

Unless you know why she had them.
