A Wife for Isaac

4.18.10 – Jesus said, “'I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.' He is the God of the living, not of the dead." (Matthew 22:32, GNB)
It’s interesting to me that both the Old and New Testaments express it that way many times. Isaac gets really high billing, but over the next few chapters of Genesis, we’re really not going to learn that much about Isaac. From the context of the Bible we’ll learn that he was a godly man, but we won’t learn much about the particulars—especially compared to his father or his second-born son.
My Bestselling Month Ever

Between March 1 and 30, 2010, I have sold 53 copies of my novels via Amazon's Kindle platform. This makes March my best selling month ever! Thanks to whoever it buying them.
I also got my first fan letter from a total stranger! A man named Scott who is employed in Saudi Arabia (!!) emailed me and thanked me for the books. I was really excited (and still am).
If you would like a personalized, autographed copy of any of the three Garison Fitch books, email me at garisonfitch@gmail.com. Order all three novels at once and I'll cut you a special deal!
Resurrection Sunday -- A Fine Morning

I got an email from a friend I’ve never met, wishing me a happy Easter. I’ve never met her because she lives in India. We got started corresponding (3-4 times a year) a few years back when she stumbled across one of my sermons that I had posted on line.
When I got the email, I was so excited. Not just because I had heard from her, but because I was reminded that Christians all over the world celebrate this day!

Sonrise Service 2010
I’ve always been fascinated by the concept of time travel. There are the stories in science fiction where the person travels to the past and does something that re-writes the present. Movies like “Star Trek” and “The Final Countdown” and TV shows like “Star Trek” and “Quantum Leap” have explored the idea of traveling through time and changing something in the past.
The (sort of) End of a Great Life

3.28.10 – In Genesis 23 we come to the death of Sarah, at the age of 127. If you have any doubt about Sarah’s importance in Biblical history, take note of the fact that she’s the only woman in the Bible about whom we get such information. The other women in the Bible just die or disappear from the narrative.
On the Mountain

3.21.10 – One of the things we Christians want is for our friends who don’t know God to get to know him, right? Some people are good at spreading the word. Some people get tongue-tied, but still pray for their friends and try to preach God through their actions.
Still, it’s awfully hard sometimes, isn’t it? I have—and I bet you do, too—great friends who just show no interest in God. And sometimes I tell myself, “It’s because they don’t know God. If only they knew him, they’d love him.
"Here at the End of All Things"

With apologies to J.R.R. Tolkien for borrowing his phrasing for my title, I sit here and write this article having just learned that 219 elected men and women have voted to end quality health care in America and drive up taxes for all of us.
Partisan Politics? All right!!
Submitted by Sam White on Wed, 03/17/2010 - 14:06.
If I may be serious for a moment, a question I ask myself more than you, I want to address something that’s been preying on my mind. To wit: bipartisanship in politics.
