Princess Leia's Metal Bikini

I am a Star Wars fan.
Let me get that out there right away. And, lest you think I’m one of the snobs who usually write blogs, I like all six Star Wars movies.
I have seen some surveys over the years in which sci-fi and fantasy fans were polled as to who their favorite all-time, or sexiest all-time sci-fi/fantasy heroine was. In almost every one of these surveys, Princess Leia (as played by Carrie Fisher) wins.

Some of you may have been reading these recent blog-like articles and wondering who Burt Cottage is and what all this is about. The first, and easiest, answer to that question is to send you over to www.destinyhelix.com where you can read the ongoing comic book saga of Burt Cottage.
[Note: These blogs that have recently appeared on tuttles.net are in reference to that story specifically.]
Still, who is this guy?
Bring a Friend--Save a Life!

We got some new wheels recently and, following the men’s prayer breakfast, we wanted to show them off. So I gave Nolan the keys and told him to open it up for the guys. When I got out there a few minutes later, the hood was open and everyone was peering at the engine.
A Dynamic Congregation Lived

What’s best-known verse in the New Testament? Probably John 3:16, right? Great verse. Very important verse. It sums up the entire gospel message very well.
As we work to make this congregation into the congregation Jesus called on us to be, I want us to consider something Jesus said that so struck the gospel writers that they all wrote about it and Luke even wrote about it twice.
John 20:21
Again Jesus said, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you." (NIV)
The Dynamic Congregation

I’ve been doing some research and, by almost anyone’s measure, the American church is stagnating. The churches that appear to be growing are—in many cases (maybe most)—growing from Christians who have transferred there from another congregation. In other words: the church isn’t growing. According studies, while church attendance across the U.S. has increased about 15% in the last three decades, the population of the country has grown by almost 90%.

Jason Kerrigan and Bronwyn Dalmouth are pilots with the Republic of Texas Army Air Corps. It is 1947 and World War II has just brought an end to Crockett Air Field, where both served and few survived. Both Jason and Bronwyn are dismayed to be called away from the front to test an experimental aircraft. Even if it could mean an end to the war, they hate to leave their friends on the front lines. The call of duty, however, cannot be ignored.

Scientist Garison Fitch discovers holes in time that will destroy time itself if not stopped, and they may be his fault. Two years before, Garison traveled through time and he’s beginning to think his original trip through time may be the source of the holes. So he must travel through time to a point before he took the first trip to keep himself from taking it. The problem is, he can’t use his time machine to do it. And time itself may be running out.

What if history didn't happen that way . . . the first time? Garison Fitch knows the world used to be different. Or does he? Back from a science experiment that went strangely wrong, Garison finds his world changed. Even his parents, who died in a plane crash years before, are alive now. The plane crash never happened. None of it did. But he knows it did. Now, can he return things to "normal"?

The Story of Burt Cottage - Part 3, Raylynn Griffith
Submitted by Sam White on Mon, 01/14/2008 - 15:40.
Her name is Raylynn Griffith. She just barely remembers her father. She remembers him as a sweet man who used to take her on his knee and tell her the meanings of words. Big words, small words, words used only by people with acute cases of psoriasis. He told her them all.
Then one day he was gone.
She cried and cried but her mother told her it was all right, Daddy would be back. He was just going to be gone for the summer. So she spent the summer learning how to swim (and being afraid of the dam) so the next time her father went to the South Seas, she could go with him.
A New Church in OUR Town

God is good. God is great. He knows us by name. He gave his son to save us. Jesus gave himself for us. We have the Holy Spirit. We have an assurance of eternity in heaven.
Man! We have some great things going for us, don’t we?!?!
If North Plains Christian Church closed, would anyone who doesn’t go here notice? Would the community of Dumas remark, “There’s a big hole here. What’s missing?”
There are no perfect churches. If you find one, stay away, because as soon as you—a fallible human—get in there, it won’t be perfect anymore.
